Looking through the various categories that a History Chip author may write about, I was immediately inspired by 'Surroundings.' I am writing my story from the balcony of my apartment in Bat Yam, Israel. Living on the 42nd floor of one of the tallest buildings in the area gives me a breathtaking view. To the north, I am able to see the beautiful city of Tel Aviv with its tall, glass buildings clustered around a busy metropolis. Westward, I am able to get a peek at the Mediterranean Sea which always draws me in to counter Israel's constant summer heat. Straight on to the east, I am able to see for miles where not too far away the West Bank remains an area of deep conflict. Further south, I get a view of the Israeli landscape and if I were to travel less than 100km, I would be in the center of the Gaza Strip. At night, the entire area lights up making it hard to look away from all one can see. I feel truly lucky to be here, writing from my balcony.
